Anglican
Studies Program Purpose
The Anglican Studies program at Nashotah House is designed
especially for those students who have studied in a non-Anglican seminary and
are now interested in a full exploration of the Anglican tradition, especially
to prepare for ordination. The typical student will have completed a Masters
of Divinity (or its equivalent) at an ATS accredited seminary, but this program
will also benefit lay people who worship in an Anglican context and would like
a stronger theological footing in the tradition.
Anglican
Studies Program Objectives
The Anglican
Studies Certificate will:
- Acquaint
the student with the essential elements of theological study in the Anglican
tradition.
- Prepare
students already having completed an MDiv degree for ordained ministry in an
Anglican parish.
- Immerse
students in the life, liturgy, spirituality, and history of the Anglican
Communion.
Anglican
Studies Program Format
The Anglican
Studies Certificate program by distance education is a 30-credit certificate
comprised of five 6-credit modules. Each module is three months in duration
and includes a one-week residency with the instructor on the campus of Nashotah
House. Residential weeks are scheduled a year in advance to allow for planning
the time away from work and family. Residential weeks come near the beginning
of each module in order to give students and instructors the opportunity for
face to face interaction and fellowship. This residential week enhances the
effectiveness of the on-line portion of the module, and it also gives the students
an opportunity to participate fully in the worship and community life at
Nashotah House.
