Nashotah House offers a variety of degree programs, each of which is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools, all of which imbibe of the classical theology and Anglican spirituality that have always distinguished Nashotah House. But each of our programs is tailored to meet the needs of a different kind of student, life circumstance or call to ministry.
Nashotah House offers a one-year program in Anglican Studies designed for those people who have been trained or ordained in another tradition and who are now seeking ordained ministry in the Episcopal Church or another Anglican jurisdiction. It is also available for students who have done some preparation for ordination in non-Anglican seminaries or alternative programs. The program offers a basic course of studies designed to ground students in Anglican theology, method, and devotion.
The MA in Ministry is offered in our distance degree format. This degree offers the essential academic components of a theological education, as prescribed by the canons of the Episcopal Church. In combination with supervised, mentored ministry, performed under the auspices of a local diocese or other judicatory, the MA in Ministry serves as a specialized degree in preparation for professional pastoral ministry.
The Master of Theological Studies degree program is normally of two years duration (full-time status), and it is intended for persons who wish to obtain a basic first professional degree in theological studies. Candidates for MTS must hold a Bachelor of Arts degree, or the equivalent, from an accredited college or university.
The Master of Divinity degree program at Nashotah House is normally completed over the course of three academic years. It is a first professional theological degree primarily intended for persons seeking to serve vocationally in a local church.
The Master of Sacred Theology is an academic master’s degree, intended to give the student an opportunity for more in-depth study in areas of theological studies than is possible at the MDiv level. This program provides opportunities for research and writing, and may serve as preparation for further graduate study.
The Doctor of Ministry program is intended for clergy and others in positions of leadership who are seeking a terminal professional degree through advanced studies in specific areas of ministry. The emphasis in this program is on developing and improving one’s skills in congregational and ministerial leadership.
