Databases List
Access to some of the following databases has been purchased by the House; access to a few of them is freely available on the web. However, many of the databases listed here are provided by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction-Division for Libraries, Technology and Community Learning to all residents of the state of Wisconsin through BadgerLink. (Wisconsin residents who are not current students of the House should access BadgerLink databases directly through the BadgerLink menu. Most of these databases are under license, and we may offer remote access through the links on this page only to currently enrolled students and faculty of the House.) Nashotah House seminarians should consult with the librarian for instructions on how to access these resources remotely. To access many of the full text resources listed below, users must obtain and install the Adobe Reader.

- ATLAS, i.e. ATLA Religion Database with ATLASerials
- ATLA Religion Database with ATLASerials is the premier index to journal articles, book reviews, and collections of essays in all fields of religion. More than 600 journals are indexed annually. The database includes more than 1.3 million bibliographic records for journal articles, more than 200,000 essay citations, and more than 400,000 book review citations. Links are provided to 100,000 full text articles from more than fifty journals. This database is produced by the American Theological Library Association.
- Ebrary Religion and Philosophy Collection
- The Ebrary Religion and Philosophy Collection includes searchable full-text of 2700 recently published books from university presses (Oxford, Cambridge, Marquette, McGill-Queens, Yale, the University of California, Stanford, etc.) and other fine publishers (Brill, the Society of Biblical Literature, I.B. Tauris, Macmillan, Random House, Taylor and Francis, Routledge, etc.) (On first accessing full-text, Ebrary users are prompted to download and install the Ebrary Reader software. Video instructions for installing Ebrary reader software and for using personalization features of the software are provided on the Ebrary home page.)
- New Testament Abstracts
- New Testament Abstracts is a product of a partnership between ATLA and the Weston Jesuit School of Theology. The database is an indispensable research and bibliographic aid for scholars, librarians, clergy and students of the New Testament and its historical milieu. The database contains more than 33,000 article abstracts, 1,200 review abstracts, 12,600 book abstracts, and 50 software abstracts. Each year an additional 2,150 articles from more than 500 periodicals in numerous languages are selected for inclusion. In addition, nearly 850 current books are also summarized annually. Article coverage in the database dates back to 1985.
- Old Testament Abstracts
- Old Testament Abstracts is a product of a partnership between ATLA and the Catholic Biblical Association. The database features indexing and abstracts for journal articles, monographs, multi-author works, and software related to Old Testament studies. Abstracts from over 450 journals are included. All abstracts are in English, regardless of the language of the original work. Topics covered include antiquities, archaeology, biblical theology, philology and much more. Coverage in the database dates back to 1978.
- Religious and Theological Abstracts
- Provides objective summaries of articles appearing in scholarly journals in the fields of Religion and Theology, including Christian, Jewish, and other World religions. English language abstracts are provided for articles in Hebrew, Afrikaans, and major European languages.
- EBSCOhost Academic Search Premier (BadgerLink)
- This multi-disciplinary database provides full text for more than 4,650 journals, including full text for more than 3,900 peer-reviewed titles. PDF backfiles to 1975 or further are available for well over one hundred journals, and searchable cited references are provided for more than 1,000 titles.
- Internet Archive
- The Internet Archive is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that is "building a digital library of Internet sites and other cultural artifacts in digital form." Includes out-of-copyright texts, moving images,and audio items.
- Google Books
- Google has entered into a project to digitize the collections of a number of university libraries. Many of the digitized books from these collections have entered the public domain and are now available to all. Conduct a search, then limit the search by clicking on "Full view" to see only those books available in full text.
- Google Scholar
- Google Scholar permits searching of a broad selection of scholarly papers, theses, books, abstracts and articles. Sources include academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories, and universities. Some, but not all, of the resources indexed by Google Scholar are available to Nashotah House library patrons in full text.
- MasterFILE Premier (BadgerLink)
- Designed specifically for public libraries, this multidisciplinary database provides full text for nearly 2,050 general reference publications with full text information dating as far back as 1975. Covering virtually every subject area of general interest, MasterFILE Premier also includes more than 350 full text reference books, 82,968 biographies, 90,915 primary source documents, and an Image Collection of 107,135 photos, maps and flags. This database is updated daily via EBSCOhost.
- New! Oxford Biblical Studies Online,

- RIM Online is a freely available database that indexes DMin and DMiss projects from reporting schools of theology accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada. Indexing began in 1981. Author, title, project advisor, institution, and subject access are provided. In addition, an abstract for each project is included when one has been provided by the author.

These biographical sketches have been carefully assembled from biographical dictionaries and other sources. AABD contains extended narratives of African American activists, business people, former slaves, performing artists, educators, lawyers, physicians, writers, church leaders, homemakers, religious workers, government workers, athletes, farmers, scientists, factory workers, and more--both the famous and the everyday person. - Business Source Premier (BadgerLink)
- Business Source Premier is the industry’s most used business research database, providing full text for more than 2,300 journals, including full text for more than 1,100 peer-reviewed titles. This database provides full text back to 1886, and searchable cited references back to 1998.
- Dissertation Abstracts
- Covers every doctoral dissertation completed in the U.S. at accredited institutions for the last 150 years. Includes some master's theses and foreign language dissertations. (OCLC)
- ECO
- An OCLC collection of scholarly journals. Indexing only.
- Electronic Books
- Contains records on all subjects cataloged by OCLC member libraries. Citations link to full text licensed from NetLibrary and other electronic providers as well as to free electronic books available from educational, government and other websites. Full text is available only for free titles and for those items for which the library has purchased a license.
- Education Research Complete (BadgerLink)
- Education Research Complete is the definitive online resource for education research. Topics covered include all levels of education from early childhood to higher education, and all educational specialties, such as multilingual education, health education, and testing. Education Research Complete provides indexing and abstracts for more than 3,000 journals back to 1881, as well as full text for more than 2,000 journals back to 1936, and includes full text for numerous education-related conference papers and more than 500 books and monographs back to 1972.
