Except where otherwise specified, the library's special collections are housed in the library's temperature and humidity-controlled Rare Books and Archives Room, which may be visited by library patrons in the the company of a member of the library staff. Among the library's special collections are several substantial, named collections. Below you will find additional information about these named collections:

- The Rev. George T. Cobbett Prayer Book Collection
- The Mary Louise Riall Cross Collection
- The National Altar Guild Book Collection
