Dr. Jesse Pruett is an Old Testament scholar and currently serving as an adjunct instructor at Nashotah House Theological Seminary and the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary. His passion is introducing students to the theological beauty and Gospel message of the Hebrew Bible, especially through the study of the text in its original languages. He is also committed to providing ministers with the tools to use the Hebrew Bible effectively in their ministries.
Dr. Pruett’s research focuses on Hebrew historiographic narratives, particularly the account of David in 1–2 Samuel. He is especially interested in the analysis of the narrative structure, theological themes, and composition history of this material as a tool for reconstructing the development of ancient Israel and Judah.
Dr. Pruett and his family have been actively involved with Christ Church Madison, an Anglican church plant in Wisconsin’s capital city, since its beginnings in 2018. Over the years, he has served on staff and on a volunteer basis as a small group coordinator, curriculum writer, and occasional guest preacher. Although originally from the south, Dr. Pruett has become a fully transplanted Midwesterner and loves spending time with his family enjoying the natural beauty of Wisconsin.
Dr. Pruett is teaching Old Testament 1 and Hebrew 1 at Nashotah House this academic year.
