Ministering to Students: Baldwin Wallace University

Position Description: The CCO Campus Staff person will provide clerical leadership as well as serve as the College & Young Adult Minister at Advent Episcopal.  The individual will provide leadership of Sunday morning services through preaching and administration of the sacraments.  The individual will engage the Gospel and seek to invite 18-25 year olds to engage commit their lives to Jesus Christ and invite them into the ministries and families of Advent.  This individual will call college students of Baldwin Wallace University to serve Jesus Christ with their entire lives.


  • The Campus Staff is accountable both to the CCO Staff Director and Sr Warden of Advent.

Works Closely With:

  • Jr. Warden and vestry of Advent


  1. Pursue relationships with Baldwin Wallace students to develop men and women who love Jesus intimately, view the world biblically, live obediently, join Christ’s restoration of creation and invite others to do likewise using CCO’s 3-12-70 model.
  2. With the assistance of student leaders, establish a network of small group Bible Studies, community gatherings as well as service-related opportunities to engage the broader community
  3. Establish an ethos within student groups of being both invitational and evangelistic in nature to further the Gospel on campus
  4. Develop and resource Advent families to “adopt” college students as a means of their having a “home away from home” and to more integrally involve them in our church family.
  5. Invite young adult & college student to engage in worship, community, social, outreach and mission opportunities of Advent.
  6. Invite and equip congregants at Advent to provide hospitality, mentorship and discipleship of college students and youth.
  7. Regularly preach and provide oversight of Sunday morning liturgy for both Sunday morning worship services.  Celebrate and consecrate the elements for and during Holy Eucharist each Sunday.
  8. Willingness to administer the Sacraments and officiate at baptisms, marriages, and funeral and burial services when needed (rare).
  9. Provide regular reports to the vestry and Sr Warden.  Attend vestry and diaconal meetings.
  10. Set-Up regular office hours at Advent and on the campus of Baldwin Wallace. Be present and encourage involvement of youth, college students & young adults in any church wide events.
  11. Recruit students to attend CCO’s Jubilee conference and other CCO transformative opportunities.
  12. Participate in all required CCO Training, raise all necessary CCO Ministry Account funds, complete weekly tracking forms and fulfill any other CCO requirements.

Qualifications & Candidate Profile:

  • Ordained or pursuing ordination
  • Gifts of Preaching, Teaching and Shepherding
  • Will have demonstrated skills in relating to lost people & leading them to Jesus.
  • Ability to envision & develop a ministry to engage commuter students.
  • Fully committed to CCO’s Core Purpose of “transforming college students to transform the world.”
  • Fully committed to vision, values, and mission of Advent
  • Has a teachable spirit.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher
