Assistant Chaplain

Job Description: 

All Saints Episcopal School seeks an Assistant Chaplain. He/She will assist the Senior Chaplain in the spiritual formation of our students. The Assistant Chaplain will work with the Chaplain to direct the spiritual life of the school, enhancing the school’s Episcopal identity, and assist with weekly chapel services and faith formation programs. Honoring the historic relationship between All Saints and Christ Episcopal Church, the Assistant Chaplain will also assist at the Sunday worship services of Christ Episcopal Church.

The Assistant Chaplain teaches faith formation/religion courses in the Middle and Upper School as well as assists the faculty in the faith formation and religious education of our students. The Assistant Chaplain will assist the Chaplain in overseeing the school’s Service Learning initiatives and the Safeguarding God’s Children program. The Assistant Chaplain will organize and participate in an annual summer mission trip for our Upper School students. In addition to earning service hours needed for graduation, this week-long mission trip helps our students fulfill the school’s mission, “Igniting Passions to Impact Our World.”

The ideal candidate should

  • Be a Priest in the Episcopal Church or a Transitional Deacon anticipating ordination to the priesthood within one year. This is a requirement.
  • Have a Masters in Divinity
  • Have had experience with student populations at a variety of grade levels
  • Have a passion for planning and officiating chapel services for students of all ages.
  • Have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a deep commitment to working with students of all ages and religious backgrounds.
  • Be someone who fosters an environment of Christian hospitality, that sees the student body, faculty and staff as his/her pastoral concern and is willing to call on students and family members in need of care.
  • Cultivate strong rapport with parents, students, and teachers and demonstrate organizational skills and a collaborative work style.
  • Provide oversight to the Christian education program for preschool through 12th grade (theology, biblical studies, world religions, and morals and ethics) and teach classes in needed areas.

A candidate with experience in an independent school is ideal. Compensation is consistent with other area independent schools and adjusted based on candidate qualifications. This is a 12-month position with benefits that conform to the guidelines of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas.
