Trinity Episcopal - Jacksonville, TX

Priest to serve as our vicar part-time

Job Description:

Trinity Episcopal is a relatively small mission church in Jacksonville, Texas.  We are seeking a priest to serve as our vicar part-time.  All ordained clergy, including retirees and bi-vocational, are welcome to apply.  Duties include leading worship on Sundays and holy days, and performing some administrative and pastoral work for a few hours each week.  Housing is provided in our vicarage.

Jacksonville is a small town (population 15,000) in the heart of Cherokee County, East Texas, located around 30 miles south of the Tyler metropolitan area, with convenient access to excellent healthcare facilities including Christus Mother Frances, the University of Texas, and M.D. Anderson.

Trinity Jacksonville was established in 1907.  Currently, our average attendance on Sundays is between 30 and 40 communicants.  Though small in size, our church is deeply invested in supporting the needs of the community of Jacksonville and the surrounding area.  Ongoing activities include  providing volunteers in the HOPE kitchen, numerous fund-raising events for HOPE throughout the year, and hosting regular meetings for the Cherokee County Human Needs Network and Al-Anon.

We frequently welcome other Christian denominations in venues for spiritual growth.  For instance, we host a Lenten Study series with guest speakers from area churches, including their retired clergy and educators; and each noonday during Holy Week we host luncheon and worship for different congregations.

We welcome any and all people to our worship, regardless of where they may be on their faith journey.  At present we have no regular Sunday School and no nursery; however, we have a sincere desire to grow our congregation.  We have space to accommodate a nursery, as well as Sunday School for adults and children.
